Sunday Morning Service
As we prepare for today’s communion service, we will reflect on what I call a “Christmas Communion”—a time to remember Christ’s birth and His death.
In our message, we're reminded that the baby born in a stable and laid in a manger was "born to die." While we strive to live, Christ was born with the goal to die for the salvation of sinners.
With only 10 days until we celebrate His birth, we remember the baby in the manger, the first gift of Christmas, wrapped in swaddling clothes. It was a humble birth for the Son of God.
Over the next 33 years, much happened, leading from the stable to the table where the Last Supper was served. Guided by the Holy Ghost, we will follow His Story from the stable to the table.
In this message, we liken the Holy Ghost's guidance to the "Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future" from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Just as the ghosts guided Ebenezer Scrooge through his life, bringing newfound inspiration and change, we will see how the Holy Ghost takes us from the stable of His birth to the table of communion through the life of Christ, bringing us a renewed inspiration for our Christmas celebration.
Come prepared with a heart to celebrate Christmas and Communion, thankful for His willingness to leave the glory of heaven, to take on human flesh, and to suffer for our sins on the cross.
In Luke 22:19 Jesus says, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Today we remember His birth and His death.
