Certainly Not
Our church celebrates Communion once per quarter, the reason we celebrate just once per quarter is that 1 Corinthians 11:25-2 states to "do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me" and "as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup." We don’t believe that there is a demand to do this weekly, plus we certainly do not want to ever make this a mere ritual.
Communion serves to be a reminder of what the Lord has done for us on the Cross of Calvary. It is a time to remember His body broken (represented by the bread) and His blood shed (represented by the fruit of the vine) for the forgiveness of sins. This is based on Jesus' words, "Do this in remembrance of me"
We “Do This” as Symbolic Act of Obedience: It is considered an ordinance, which is a ceremony commanded by Jesus for the church to observe.
We “Do this” in Anticipation of His Second Coming: Partaking of the Lord’s Supper is a proclamation of Christ's death until He returns, pointing forward to the future feast in the Kingdom of God.
We “Do this” as an act of Communion and Unity: It is an expression of the believers' fellowship with Christ and with one another as the body of Christ.
As individuals it is also a time of Self-Examination: Believers are encouraged to examine their hearts and lives before participating, ensuring they are rightly relating to the Lord and the church (1 Corinthians 11:28).
Communion is a solemn, symbolic ceremony commanded by Christ that provides an opportunity for believers to remember His atoning death, affirm their faith and unity, and looking forward to His return.
As we partake today, may this be a solemn and Holy meeting of our church, and of us as individuals with our Lord.
