Proclaim His Love

Taxes, Marriage, and Death

In Luke 20:34-36 Jesus tells the Sadducees 4 things about Heaven

First, that while marriage is important here on earth, in heaven it won’t be. Jesus said they neither marry nor are given in marriage; (35) There will only be one marriage celebration in heaven–the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7) between Christ and His bride the Church.

Secondly, Jesus says in heaven, that “we will die no more”. (36) There will be a permanency of life there, death will never raise its ugly head again, we will no longer have to face its nightmare, no longer will we fear it for loved ones, family and friends.

Thirdly He says in that same verse (36) that we will be like the angels. We will one day be like the angels. What do angels do in heaven? They worship, they praise God, they exist to bring honor and glory to God.

Fourthly - and you gotta love this one-(36), He says that we are the children of God. We are to be like children- having a child like dependence upon the father, to meet their needs, to provide food and shelter, even to give us the desires of our hearts.

In Heaven we will experience a childlike confidence in God- we will not be consumed with the material. We will have a childlike curiosity exploring the marvelous wonders of eternity future and eternity past. We will not be sitting on a cloud doing nothing, we will be busy; serving Him, worshipping Him, and enjoying heaven.

Such a glorious place, made available to us by the death, burial and resurrection of the Savior.
