Proclaim His Love

There's an App for That

May 3, 2026

On Sunday May 17, we will begin with a Baptismal Service, please talk with pastor tim or Sug if you would like to be baptized. Then after the service we will host a New Members class. If you have been thinking about joining FBC, I would encourage you to attend this class (lasts for about an hour and a lite lunch will be provided) During the class we will talk about what we believe and the Mission of Hazard FBC.

We live in a culture where many ask the question why is it important to be a member of a church, when I am a Christian already? Why bother with becoming a member of a local church?

Church membership matters as well as marriage matters. When we fall in love – find that special someone in our lives we make a commitment to that person which often ends in marriage. This is the natural progression of that special relationship. It is our way of showing a commitment to that person that says I belong to him or her.

In the same sense when we become a Christian, when we ask Christ into our lives, confess our sin, it is only natural that we want to follow Him in baptism and church membership. We will want to identify with Him, and we do that by becoming a member of a church.

In the Book of Acts we see the birth of the Church, and the natural progression of people who follow Christ,

Acts 2:41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

We see that those who received His word were baptized and added to the church. From this passage we also see a natural devotion to the teaching of the church and we see the benefits of fellowship, that of breaking of bread together and praying together. And the Lord added to their number as the members were praising God together. Acts 2:47
