Proclaim His Love

Blessed Man

Jun 21, 2026

I have often said that Father’s Day doesn’t get the press that Mother’s Day does. On Mother’s Day, Mom receives breakfast in bed, flowers, and an expensive spa package. But on Father’s Day, Dad gets a pack of black crew socks and a spatula for the grill that he is expected to man at noon that day, even though it is 95 degrees outside.

If you forget Mother’s Day, you might as well go into a witness protection program, but if you forget Father’s Day, not to worry—Dad has probably forgotten about it also. Yet, I think that we will agree that dads are someone we shouldn’t forget, for fathers play a profoundly significant role in our lives.

Psalm 1:1-3 offers a powerful picture of the unforgettable father, one who reflects God's design for leadership. In our text today, we will discover three qualities about a man who is blessed:

A Blessed Dad is one who is not easily swayed by the world; he is one who is setting the example of what it means to be a good dad.

A Blessed Dad is one who understands the immense value of God’s Word; he delights in it, he studies it, he seeks to understand it and apply it to his life.

A Blessed Dad is one who has a foundation. His spiritual vitality is such that he leads a stable life, and God prospers him, and others seek to imitate him.

Today, let’s celebrate our dads. Many only have memories of our dads, and we rejoice in them, while others can call or visit with their dad and tell them that they consider themselves blessed because of who their dad is.
