Sunday Morning Service
FBC Family,
Today I want to talk about a certain word – a word that we often get confused with another word. That word is “Sabbath”, we often get it confused with the “Lord’s day”.
For the Sabbath is on Saturday and the Lord’s Day is on Sunday. The Jews begin observing the Sabbath on Friday at sunset and it went to Saturday at sunset.
We as Christians corporately worship on the Lord’s Day, which is on Sunday. We recognize this day as the day that our Savior rose from the dead.
The Lord’s Day is vitally important to us as Christians, it is a day that we set aside to worship, and to rest. But we live in a world where many, especially in service industry jobs must work on Sundays. For them and for myself, (as Sunday is one of my busiest days in the week). I encourage them to select a day each week to get rest. After all God gave us this example when He, who did not need any rest, chose to rest on the day after He finished creating Creation.
I also want to encourage you to worship each and every day. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians saying “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (ESV).
Make everyday a day of worship.
