Sunday Morning Service
Today’s Message is taken from Luke 8: 22-39 Last week I asked the question, “what type of dirt are you”? As we discussed the parable of the soils, which one would illustrate your life?
The question “what type of dirt are you?” may have seemed a bit rude, likening the good people of FBC to dirt. But I don’t think that anyone necessarily got upset about this question. However, this week it may be a little different as we ask the question- Are you in your right mind?
Yet if we were honest each of us at one time or another have probably asked ourselves this question, are we thinking clearly -are we connecting the dots in life? Sometimes it may seem like we are not.
All of us have done silly or stupid things, at the end of which we said to ourselves- boy I am beginning to wonder about you. –Max has stated this about me from time to time.
We have all at some time wondered about our sanity, maybe we thought we were going a little crazy. Reminds me of a story that a friend of ours told us about, she worked at a nursing home in Knott County for a number of years --and a fellow once called her saying that he wanted to admit his wife. He said she is crazy – but she ain’t plum crazy.
Well often we feel like we are a little crazy – but not plum crazy. And the cares and challenges of life can lead us to this place, as our schedules are stretched thin, demands of work; family and even church cause us to think that we can never get it all done. That we are going a little insane.
Well in today’s text taken from Luke chapter 8 we are going to attempt to teach how we can come to a place where “we are in our right minds”. Many of you will need to really pay close attention.
In our 2-part text today we will discover what it means to be in your right mind, when it comes to dealing with trials and also when it comes to understanding the awesomeness of our God and Savior. Our text begins with a familiar story about Jesus being asleep on the boat.
