John the Baptist Prepares the Way

Luke 3 verse 3 gives us the what- the main story, which is the focus of our message today. For we are told that John the Baptist was preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sin. But why repentance? – the Jews were very religious people, they had the temple they had their sacrifices. These were good moral folks to some degree, yet –Jesus speaking of them a little later says that “they were lost, as sheep without a shepherd”.
