Order Ducks
Ducks not chickens

Years ago, I worked for the Postal Service with a fellow that was somewhat of a card, no let me take that back he was a character. He was a rural letter carrier, rural carriers at the Post Office were required to use their own vehicles.
One early spring day he had a load of live baby chicks in his car, they are just the prettiest little things that every were. But if you have 100 of them in your car with you, between the noise and the smell, your sweet thoughts of baby chicks will often sour.
Bill the mail carrier had grown quite weary of them their constant chirping and stinking, they had rode with him all day, when Bill got them to their delivery point, he happily threw them out of the car, they landed in an impression in the driveway. Later that day it rained cats and dogs, and everyone of the chickens drown.
The fellow that ordered the chickens filed a complaint with the post office against Bill for the way that he had delivered his chickens, leaving them in an exposed and non secured place.
Bill was a little offended so the next day he stopped to see the farmer. The farmer said you rascal you left my chickens in that hole and they everyone drowned, and now I don’t have any to sell for easter. Bill got excited and stuttered a little bit, and he said the ne-ne-ne-next time order ducks.
He had made a bad decision by ordering chickens. Well, it is certainly difficult to forecast all foreseeable problems in the future. To miss all opportunities for loss. In fact, we all are guaranteed difficult days – Jesus said it like this- in the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.
Even in times of diversity and loss, we can have a positive attitude as Jesus tells us to be of good cheer, He has our future in His hands, He will see us thru difficult times.
