A relationship involves time! And spending time together is so important for those who are married, considering marriage, or just wanting to be friends.
The story is told about a tornado that hit a Kansas farmhouse just before dawn one morning. It tore off the roof and picked up the beds on which the farmer and his wife were sleeping.-By some miracle, the tornado set them down, unharmed, the next county over.-The wife was sobbing uncontrollably.
"Don’t be scared, Martha," her husband consoled, "We’re not hurt."
Martha continued to cry. "I’m not scared," she said between sobs. "I’m happy... this is the first time we’ve been out together in 14 years."
Pastor and author David Jeremiah’s has said, “You’ve heard the saying, “It’s not the quantity, but the quality of time that really counts.” Simply defined, the statement means that one can make up for having minimal moments with his family by making certain that the time he does have is quality time.
Put away the phone when you go into a restaurant, or when you sit down at the table. Put it on silent. The world can make it without you for a few minutes, any facebook items that you need to catch up on -will still be available 30 minutes later. Spend time truly talking and sharing. Spend time together, shut out the world for a few moments. Share your lives together.
Philippians 2: verse 1-2 says So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
These verses could certainly also be applied to our marriages, as we should have marriages that are full of encouragement, comfort and love. And when we do, we will have marriages that complete our joy. When we are on the same page, working towards the same goals in our marriages, allowing love to the foundation on which we build on lives, we can become of one mind.
Jesus spoke of the same in Matt 19:5 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
