Wealth, Worry and Walk
In today’s message entitled Wealth, Worry and our Walk. Our text is taken from Luke 12:13-34. We will explore how to navigate the material aspects of our lives, reduce worry, and walk in a way that pleases our Lord.
Wealth: Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:19-20: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.” The scriptures do not demand a vow of poverty, but Jesus reminds us not to become so obsessed with earthly treasures that we forget about heavenly ones.
Worry: People often say, “I don’t worry, I’m just concerned.” It's important to know the difference between sinful worry and godly concern. Worry sees the problem; concern seeks a solution. Worry can weaken our faith and lead us away from God. I've had people tell me they stopped coming to church because of worries in their lives, showing how worry can be a sin that distances us from God.
Our Walk: Walk in the way God wants you to walk. Live a life seeking eternal rewards by giving to others, tithing, sharing your resources, and prioritizing God in your life. Honor Him with your finances, energy, and strength, serve Him, and encourage others in their walk.
Oh God, may we use our wealth for Your kingdom, eliminate worry (which is sin), and walk consistently in You.
