A Friend at Midnight
FBC Family,
Last Sunday we considered the wonderful example of the Lord’s Prayer as an effective way to structure our prayer lives. I think that we will all agree that there are times when we must take our petitions to the Father, asking Him to intervene in certain life situations that can be overwhelming.
But thankfully these times are not always prevalent in our lives. We each enjoy many wonderful, glorious days; days when we are not challenged to our wits end. So, when do we need to pray? The scriptures teach that we need to pray always, the apostle Paul said to “pray without ceasing”1 Thess 5:17 in wonderful seasons of life, in times of abundance and joy, in times of storms and doubts, spend time in prayer. Jesus encourages us in the passage which we will consider today to be persistent and diligent in prayer.
The urgency of prayer cannot be overstated. In our fast paced and often chaotic lives prayer serves as a vital connection to our Lord and our God. It should not merely be a ritual, but it should be a life-line offering hope guidance and strength.
When we are faced with trials and tribulation, prayer becomes our refuge.
A place where we seek clarity and peace. (I am amazed about the peace that we can experience in prayer, even during some of the most difficult situations in our lives) Oh, how I long that we at Hazard FBC will be people of consistent and diligent prayer, taking our petitions to our Heavenly Father.
Take your sorrows and your joys each day to your “Abba” Father. Your heavenly Father that loved you so much that He sent His Son to die for you. Hebrews 4:16 says Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Are you going through some challenging times, heed the words of our Savior:
Luke 11: 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. pastor tim
